Atlantic Tuna Project - How to Make a Tag Stick from john logioco on Vimeo.

Here is a short video on how to make a tuna tagging stick. It's easy, fun and cheap. All you need is a broom handle, saw, drill and 11/64 drill bit, flathead screw driver, small hammer, metal tag head (TSH-2) and some duct tape (which is optional). If you need to order a tag head (model TSH-2), check out Fisherman's Supply here, they sell for $5. The purpose of making these shorter tag sticks is to make it easier to wield the tag stick when handling smaller tuna and marlin at boat side or on board. Here are tips on how to use this tag stick safely.

For larger tuna that require a longer tag stick we recommend AFTCO's six foot gold anodized tag stick with the head TSH-2 for the nylon plastic tags. They retail for ~$65.

For either stick you will also need a rubber band to hold the tag in place prior to tagging.
